An 11 year old, tawny coated, male Boxer dog, with a serious cardiopulmonary filariasis. It is clear that there is an organic weakening of the animal and in particular an ascite (around 5 litres).
Furthermore, you can see a distal oedema on the back limbs. This is the vena caval caudal syndrome (VCC).

The dog had not been given any c.p.f. preventive treatment for over 5 years. The dog lives in the province of Verona and in spring, summer and autumn it lives outside the house, not inside.
Using the knot technique, it was not possible to detect the presence of microfilasis. Through witness dirofilaria, i diagnosed an occult filariasis. Using snap canine heartworm, i took out a high level of Antigens.

I carried out a blood cell count test with the idexx q.b.c. device.
Eosinophilia 3.9/109/l. (normal reference reading 0.5-1.5) i do not think necessary to go through all the enzymatic changes with a metabolic profile using the idexx-vet test 8008 device
